My First Experience Fasting
Today is my first time fasting for health and on purpose. I've fasted before surgery and before blood work but nothing else. I have recently been listening to Dr. Peter Attia and his podcasts regarding fasting for health has been interesting. This has led me to do additional research and I've decided to try some fasting to see if it improves my sports performance and overall health.
Monday August 14th, 2023 - Day 1
1 meal today - lunch around 1 pm.
Tuesday August 15th, 2023 - Day 2
1 meal today - dinner around 7:30 pm.
This makes my fast about 30 hours long starting Day 1 from 1 pm to Day 2 at 7:30 pm.
Not eating for 30 hours was a little easier that I thought it would be and really was only somewhat difficult the last 3 hours. Part of that might have been knowing that I was going to eat dinner and the anticipation of that meal. At that point I had not decided if I was going to try to make it until morning and then decided that roughly 24-30 hours was long enough for the first try.
Notes for Tuesday August 15th, 2023
Reasons for fasting:
Improve overall health
See if it potentially raises my HDL - if I continue forms of fasting (TRF, IMF, etc) for a period of time.
Possibly decrease pain - Shoulder, back, and neck pain.
* Most likely coincidental but after 1 day of fasting both the pain in my shoulder and neck was improved.
Wednesday August 16th, 2023 - Day 3
1 meal today - lunch around 11:15 am.
Note - it is time I start improving my dietary choices. Today was unhealthy food and I need to make better selections.
